MWUN ELECTION: NPA Branch Elects Comrade Ajayi As New President


The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Branch of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) on Monday, 30th June 2025, elected Comrade Bamidele Ajayi as the new President.

Ajayi, a former Treasurer of the branch, takes over from Comrade Ifeanyi Edward Mazeli at the 6th Quadrennial Delegates Conference held in Lagos.

The newly elected President and his team won the polls unopposed.

Here are the names of the newly elected branch executives of the NPA MWUN:

Com. Ajayi Bamidele Alex – President

Com. Adamu Benjamin – Vice President

Com. Adjarho Peter – Trustee

Com. Alabi Lawrence – Treasurer

Com. Fagbemi Olakunle Kolawole – Treasurer

Com. Babatunde Waheed Abolore – Auditor

Com. Oku Ngozi Mercy – Branch Women Representative

In his remarks, the newly elected President acknowledged past leaders of the union, stressing the need for robust collaboration between the junior and senior staff of the union.

Ajayi affirmed that the union will continue to engage the management of NPA on issues affecting the workers.

He called on members to support the newly elected executives with information that will enable them to engage management constructively.

He preached peace and unity among members, adding that the branch is now led by the new leadership under his guidance.
